Beltline Bar 5 Millionth Burrito

On Oct. 6, 2015, Jeff Lobdell of the Beltline Bar in Grand Rapids celebrated a milestone, selling the restaurant's 5 millionth burrito. The local institution is known for its famous wet burrito, a humungous burrito smother in enchilada sauce and cheddar cheese. The lucky patron was Matt Veurink, who won a special edition t-shirt, an extra large wet burrito custom made, and 365 Free Burrito certificates! About Beltline Bar

A Mexican restaurant, Beltline Bar has over six decades of history serving customers in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on a street formerly referred to as The South Beltline. During its early years in business, the restaurant served a small menu consisting of wine, popcorn, and chili dogs and seated only 42 people. Beltline Bar underwent two changes in ownership over the past 60 years, leading to its current focus on Mexican food and the expansion of services to include catering and curbside ordering. Additionally, the renovated facilities now seats 250 people.

Beltline Bar menu items include a wide range of Mexican classics, including quesadillas, enchiladas, tacos, and fajitas. It also contains several recipes developed by the second owner’s son in 1966, such as the restaurant’s signature dish, the Famous Wet Burrito. A recipient of the Grand Rapids Magazine’s Award of Excellence for best burrito, the dish features ground beef, bean, and tomato on a soft tortilla smothered with Colby cheese and the restaurant’s signature sauce.
